INDUSTRY BACKGROUND: Boardroom Consulting positions itself as being ‘your virtual board of directors’ i.e. We can provide help, advice and experience at board level on a part time basis from two hours per month to two days per week and anything in-between. This provides a very cost effective way of developing a business and for the owner/managing director to have someone independent to talk to, bounce ideas off and receive help in areas where there may be a shortage of resources eg. time or skills.As Managing Director of a medium sized motor group my role was extremely varied and included:
Decision-making at the highest level in respect of budgets, advertising, staffing levels etc.
Performance reviews with key stakeholders.
Dealing with seven direct reports.
Delegation of tasks through Departmental Managers at regular weekly meetings.
Regular communication with the Dealerships regarding promotions, finance offers etc.
Regular staff team briefings to keep everyone informed of all company news.
Issuing employee Terms & Conditions of employment and updating the Staff Handbook to reflect current legislation.
Creating Job Descriptions and interviewing prospective candidates.
Overseeing Staff Development Reviews.
Liaising with advertising and media companies to promote the company.
